PrusaSlicer keyboard navigation is a TOTAL distaster. Needs a rework ASAP.

Background - I have few hundred STLs that I need to do a simple edit on each - resize Z to 30mm, cut the object on Z 12mm, leave only the bottom part, delete the upper one, save and replace the original file with the lower part.

Also - would love an input from you guys if you have any ideas how I can manage this.

I have tried to do that in the command line (Prusa Slicer Console) - unfortunately the "--cut X" option simply does not work (I have opened an issue on GitHub) and there is no option to resize the object only according to Z. The only command that let's you resize and object in command line requires X Y Z as input, where X and Y i wish to stay the same as original.

No CMD automation for me here, but I had high hopes 🙂

And here we go with the Prusa Slicer - I though about a simple/stupid AHK windows macro using multiple keyboard keys, because everything can be done with a lot of TABs jumping, but (!!!!):

1. There is no key option to switch between platter and the side bar. TAB key basically works as should in the sidebar until you get out of it into the platter. In the platter your TAB is stuck and destined to only be switching between Preview and 3D Editor View. It is stuck there forever, without mouse click you CAN'T go to the right side bar. Never.

2. Okay, so if my TAB key is stuck in 3D Editor then maybe it will let me at least toggle between options in there? Not so fast! If you push "C" for object cut, the small cut options window is completly "tab-proof". No keyboard action there my friend. You have to click on the size, input the amount, move your mouse and click on the "Perform Cut" button.

3. Okay, let's make the macro fool-proof, you will hard-code the mouse coordinates in the screen and use the mouse clicks. You can emulate the right mouse button click with Shift+F10. Hehe not so fast cowboy! You are not allowed to use SHIFT + F10 in the PrusaSlicer, it will not work. GAME OVER!

Like come on guys, what magic was used to write this program?

Feel better now after venting ?

This is user to user forum.  You already know the place for feature requests and bug reports.

You are basically wanting to do CAD operations on stl files.  I'd suggest using some form of cad software.
