Prusaslicer ignoring Dont cross perimeters???

Hello!

Im trying to avoid stringing on my mini at all costs and one good way is "avoid crossing perimeters". like combing in cura

Im also doing retraction tuning and other things, but its difficult to remove stringing completely with petg and 0.6 nozzle

Have anyone noticed Prusaslicer 2.4 ignores the option "Avoid crossing perimeters"? I have 0.1mm as minimum because 0 deactivates it.

Is there a way to inforce it? I really dont mind the extra time to slice or print, but I need Post-process-free parts

Please help

RE:

There are settings for:

  • Avoid crossing perimeters. Turn this feature on or off.
  • Avoid crossing perimeters - Max detour length. Allows setting a MAXIMUM detour distance that can be set as a fixed distance or a percentage of travel path.

If you hover your mouse over the input boxes, you should see a pop-up help tooltip explaining each feature.

From your description, I'm wondering if you've got maximum detour length set to 0.1mm which will only avoid very short travel moves and otherwise cross perimeters.

I've got some notes on eliminating stringing here that might be of interest.

Hi! and thanks for taking the time to reply with good content.

I've tried setting that to 0, but no luck, there is no way to force "combing" and no cross perimeters. Its a shame but I might be forced to use cura for this if I cant make it do what it is supposed to do

I'd try setting it to a higher value. My thinking is that 0 disabled "do not cross". A low value (e.g., o.1mm) will only not cross for very short travel moves. You want it to do so for longer moves. I'd try 10mm as a quick test and spend some time in preview mode. (This is something I've meant to test for some time myself.)

Thanks Bob. I read that as disable the "max detour length" function but I pretty sure you are either correct or "avoid crossing perimeters" just doen't work.

Just found this thread as I had the same question. Incase anyone else comes looking, You want to make the AVOID CROSSING PERIMETERS - MAX DETOUR LENGTH large because this says that anything less than that amount will ignore avoid crossing perimeters. I set mine to 100mm and it almost never crosses except where it has to.

I'm having the same issues, did you find a fix?
