After updating PrusaSlicer v2.3.3 to v2.4.0 the program does not start on Win7 64bit. 🙁

Win 7 is out of extended support now, so i’d expect things to rapidly stop working in it as win11 rolls on

It's running just fine on Win 7 64 for me. Win7 64 home and pro versions, it's also running on Win 8.1. also I have both 2.3.3 and 2.4.0 final running.

I did nothing special just opened it and started running it.

Good Luck

There doesn't seem to be an installer for 2.4, do we just drop the new files into the existing folders and that's how it's updated?

RE:

Thanks for the software update.

I need to ask why the support mechanism has changed so dramatically?

I have a model of a box that I print with some over hang clips. On the previous version the support material was only on 4 points of the box under the over hang over the support mechanism with the new version of the software there are supports all around the box and the print time has increased by 90mins.

I've tested all the available options for supports and none return the same result as the previous software version.

Any advice appreciated.

Regards,

Julius

Thanks - I got the zip file from the Github site and it didn't seem to have an installer.

Some great new improvements 👍

Can i change the start location of a print with this new version?
I can't seem to find a way to do it in the old version.

RE: PrusaSlicer 2.4 is here!

Sending a print to Octoprint from PS 2.4 - there used to be a checkbox "Start printing after upload" - that's now gone and there are two buttons - Upload, and "Upload and Print". The default is upload. Prior to 2.4, my workflow was to hit the Send to printer button, change the name if necessary and hit Enter - which would follow my default preference of upload and print. Now my preferred default is a non-default button and I have to either start the print manually or grab the mouse and move it to the new button. It's not a massive thing but it's annoying that I could previously choose my default - and now I cannot. Is there any way to change this default, or any good reason for taking away the ability to have a default?

You do know that there is a feature of Prusascript that allow you to automatically change the name of the GCode file?

For instance I have  Printsettings/output options/output file name format set to -

PS_[input_filename_base]_[print_settings_id]_{filament_settings_id[0]}.gcode

PS is appended (so I know what slicer was used), print and filament settings are prepended (it that a word?)
