PrusaSclicer loading STEP is taking a long time

I regularly load step files into PrusaSlicer, and it works without a problem.

Sometimes it can take a few minutes, but only for complex parts.

I have a file that I need to slice, but PrusaSlicer has not been able to load it.

PrusaSlicer has been running for 30 minutes without completing the load.

There are no other processes consuming a significant portion of the computers resources.

That is a 46MB file.  It will be slow to load.   Looking at my load, Prusa Slicer is single threaded so it will be slower to load and only will use one core.  I opened the file in FreeCAD and it was slow due to its size but it opened much faster than in the slicer.  Step files are text files and this one has 516349 lines within it.  This file is going to require patience to load.  I have done some project and none of my step files are over 200K in size.  I see why it is such a large file.  Lots of small details.

Depending on how the Prusa slicer loads the file, it may take a very long time.  I would be tempted to save the file as an STL and see if that loads quicker.   I also don't know if the 2.6beta version of the slicer will be better.

Not sure of the system you are using but Prusa slicer is using 4.5g if ram on my system while opening the file with two threads.  My machine is not a fast machine but has 32G of ram.

The problem with this part is the curvature; this makes the file very large when converted to an STL. I attempted to let SolidWorks generate the STL with my normal settings, but I stopped it after an hour. I decided to reduce my STL generation settings and I was able to get a file; even with low quality settings, the file was 500 MB. PrusaSlicer has no problem with large STEP/STL files (atleast on my computer), the problem is generating the large STL.

I took a second look at the file.  I recreated most of the tube without the inner details and saved as both a step and stl file.  The stl file was 31 times larger than the step file.  If that holds true between your step file and an stl file, it creates a file that is over 1.6G in size.  I am not sure what curvature you are talking about that would make the file so large.   I know that if I click on the inside of the tube, it seems to hang while processing the data.  Now FreeCAD is not mutli-threaded for many aspects and that could be the reason.

Loading my drawings into the slicer caused the slicer to use 150m of ram for a 14K/444K file.  A 1.6M stl file uses 516M of ram. 

I would watch the system and process ram as the file loads and see if you are running into an memory issue.
