Prusa Slicer parallel item printing control

I have seen similar questions to this but no clear answer. Using the current Prusa Slicer Version 2.4.0+win64, I can not see/find a way to instruct the software in what order I would like multiple items to be printed in.

As an example, I have a project of 7 items. One of the items I have purposely placed in the center of the plate. I would like this item to print first (i.e. each layer starts there). I would also like the option to indicate the sequence for the first (x) items, again for example, I would like to be able to specify the print order for the first three items and do not care how the remaining four are sequenced.

I would like to specify part or all of the objects print order as [in this project] the first few items are difficult to get "just right" and after repeated imports, can not get them to start first. This results in a number of the other items having to print their first layers before the printer gets to these problematic ones and if they fail I have wasted more time/filament than was necessary.

For extra credit, being able to indicate that the print sequence matters only for the first X layers would be nice as well. This would enable me to specify the sequence for a couple / few layers and when I am past the danger zone, the sequence can go to what the software thinks is a more optimized pathing.

Is any of this currently in the software and I just don't know where to look? Again, this is not the "Complete individual objects" option where "part 1 is completely printed, then move to part 2, then 3, etc." but is instead "print part 1 layer 1, part 2 layer 1. part 3 layer 1, etc. then when done, part 1 layer 2, part 2 layer 2, etc. until all done."

Thank you.

Rearrange the objects in the list in the right hand pane - drag and drop, and they will be printed in that order.

I tried that and it did not affect the gcode print order, it is still pathing from front left to rear as it moves across the build surface.

3 6 9

2 5 8

1 4 7

even though the object order in the list is:

5 4 3

8 1 2

9 7 6

I also tried deleted all the items and re-added them one by one in the order I wanted them to print (to an exiting project) then move them into position. It did not affect the print sequence. I will try again from a new project and see if that makes a difference.

Thanks.

RE:

Ok, this used to work but I've just checked with the latest version, 2.4.1 (linux) and it's only partially successful ... PS instead optimises for the shortest move between multiple parts.

I've just had fun rearranging simlar sized parts, a chess set, with different spaces between them and it's possible to guide PS along all sorts of paths as it chooses the next shortest step.

Cheerio,
