Printing Convaoi - Rubberduck with PLA prints perfect. Printing ABS on a Zortrax M200 works excellent - even a bit better. Printing on MK3S+ with ABS FAILS !

Reason is, parts to the model which are placed on top of the support structure do not fix to the support structure. The support structure is melted somehow so there could not grow the overhanging parts of the figure.

I used the standard settings from the Prusa ABS menu (250°C/100°C, all othe settings standard, except for 5 outside contour layers. Trying to increase the cooling fan as described in another place on this forum did not make any obtainable change.

Can someone give hints on settings to print with ABS in such cases?

I tried to upload a picture but was not allowed to by the forum software ("you are not allowed to upload files").

I am not sure I understand the problem you are having.  Are you printing in an enclosure?

first let me correct a typo: "Convoi Rubberduck". I print without enclosure - my reference ABS printer is a Zortrax M200 also without enclosure, which prints excellently. So there should be a trick to optimize this also with the Prusa Slic3r / Prusa printers which work also excellently with PLA.

The problem in more detail:

Parts of the model start some cm above the printer base. So they need a support structure from this base, which is generated by the Slicer. This can be seen watching the 'wings' of the duck left (ABS M200) and right (PLA MK3S+). The middle Rubberduck printed in ABS with MK3S+ has damaged wingtips. The reason is supposedly, that printing the bottom layers of the wings on top of the support structure melts this shallow structure a bit down, so the layer cannot be printed correctly and the next layers are printing in free air or are not connected due to a bigger distance in height (z). My first attempt was to increase cooling, following hints from this forum "ABS Print and auto cooling option (Slic3r)" and set it to values for ABS from "poor print quality : Cooling Issue". This did not make any change. Maybe the cooling settings were not enough.
Now I am looking for a better cooling option or for a change in the support structure, e.g. building a more rigid base on top of the structure growing slowly in density (not to melt down the brittle support walls) with a separation layer before the Duck-wing-tips start to print.

Is there an option in the Slicer to tweak this behaviour? What else can I do? The yellow duck demonstrates that it is possible. Having not too much experience I am sure somebody in the forum knows help.
