Printing via PrusaSlicer with different materials via single extruder & layer heights

I'm looking to print a gaming token that is black PETG for the token itself and gold PLA for the logo on top.  I can do the color change easy enough, but I'm concerned about going from a high-temp filament to a lower one mid-stream.  The PLA is literally only 2 layers thick.

I've considered setting up a second "virtual" extruder with the PLA, but I wasn't sure how the Mk3+ would handle that.

Is there a way to insert a "filament change" at the same time as marking the "color change"?

Has anyone tried this?  Or have opinions on whether switching from PETG to PLA in the print would be problematic?

TIA for any help!

PLA doesn't stick to PETG. Your parts will separate.

Ah.  Well then, guess that answers that question.  Thanks!  LOL

... though if youre going a few layers deeper you can key one into the other, think 3D jigsaw.  The wait for the temperature changes adds ages to the print.

Cheerio,

So why does it have to be two materials?

It doesn't *have* to be.  I only have two flavors of black filament: matte PLA and standard PETG.  I didn't really want to use the matte finish for the tokens, but I don't have a choice now, so no biggie.
