Moving objects on Z axis

Does anyone know how to keep an object from snapping back down to the plate when you try to move it 'up' on the z axis?  I can't find an option that keeps this from happening.

don't add it to the plate ( base object ). right click on the object you want to add it to and then " add object"

Is that the only way to do it?  When I right click and 'add part,' it adds it to the base plate next to it rather than on top of it.  And it 'joins' the parts so that they can't be manipulated individually.

RE: Moving objects on Z axis

this model is four part, I loaded the bottom panel first then added the remaining 3 parts, and ended up with the model on the third  image,
I then elevated three of the parts individually to show that it can be done as shown in the left picture

and in the second picture is a preferences table that may hold the secret
if all parts show green, they are effectively selected as a group.

as seen in this last picture... you need to click off the parts, to make them individually selectable

One part (your initial part) HAS to be located on the bed.  For an object to print it has to be connected to the bed somewhere so all objects added directly to the build plate always get placed on the plate, they can not print otherwise.

However if you select an already placed object and right click on it (not the plate) you can add other objects (stl files,  modifiers etc).  These get added to and grouped with that object.  These secondary parts can then be moved around, even off the plate.

As Joan mentioned the parts are grouped so if you click on them in the build plate chances are you will select all of them.  You can however use the list view on the right to select one easily and then you can move it around (M), scale it (S) rotate (R) etc.

There's no "add part" when you right click an object in Prusaslicer. What are you guys talking about?

@nickdiaz  We are talking about this -

What mode are you running slicer in ?  Simple limits the things you can do and the add part option doesnt appear until you run in at least advanced mode.

Then again you have 2 options I don't have , optimise orientation and pad and support.  So what version are you running ?  What type of object is it that you right clicked on ?

How about posting your 3mf project file (zip it up to attach it) and we might have more to go on as to why your options are different.

Attached zip file. Looks like there's no "add part" when modeling/printing SLA.  It's an unfortunate limitation when I'm printing miniatures, as I need to put the mini up on a base by raising the z axis a bit.

RE: Moving objects on Z axis

Regarding your problem "Moving Z axis".

@nickdiaz

Maybe helpful:

- Setup a fake Prusa FFF Printer using the configuration wizzard.
- Use the "Moving objects on Z axis" as already described.
- And finally save everything as STL - File

If it helps everything is fine - if not sorry for wasting your time
