monotonic vs. Monotonic lines - top v bottom?

It sounds like monotonic lines fill is an improvement over standard Monotonic.  Why does bottom fill default to monotonic and top to monotonic lines?

You would have to ask the Dev's over on  the Prusa Slicer github for their reasoning.

If I had to guess though I would say because its not needed on the bottom with a Prusa printer.  The squish you get when the first layer is properly set makes the lines option pointless.  The extra time taken to print the Monotonic Lines would be a waste.  For example -

Can you see any gaps in that ?  All that's there is the surface texture/damage from an old 3+ years smooth print sheet.
