Modifier problem - no bottom and top layers

Hello.
In some body I insert modifier in order to create hole.
On the modifier I define fill: 0% , perimeters: 0 , bottom: 4, top: 4.
But I don't get top and bottom layers ... Is it bug ?

How to close the fill of the body in the hole ?

that does appear odd.
I did something similar and got similar results.

I then turned the original model so that the hole would be vertical, not unsurprisingly, I got a hole with a top and bottom...
so I then changed the modifier to have no top or bottom layers either and I got a vertical hole with solid side faces...

Weird.

I showed just simple example of the problem.
I can't rotate the model in my case .

Actually , my model looks like this :

Modifiers are limited in what they can do, precisely because they in effect break up the original model to slice separately. If you want a hole in something it’s far better to actually add the hole using cad in the first place.   Let the slicer, slice.

@neophyl

It is not simple to do custom holes in other programs .
I tried Fusion 360 and meshmixer

Fusion360 is pretty easy to use to cut holes, slots, etc.  Most CAD/3D modelling software allow for subtraction of one object from another.  Search youtube for Fusion360 holes and there are loads of tutorials on the subject.

@ikif81

Actually it is, all it takes is some familiarity with your choosen bit of CAD software.  As 3delight points out, adding a hole is one of the most basic tasks.  He uses Fusion360, I prefer Blender, but its easy in both.

Prusa Slicer is a very good slicer on the whole, its modifiers can be very very useful but it is not CAD software, its a slicer.  Trying to make it into something its not, well it sometimes works and other times it doesnt.

Anyone who wants to get beyond printing other people models downloaded from the internet, will at some point, HAVE to learn at least the basics of at least one cad program.  Even if its just to tweak them and fix issues in those original models.  If you don't then you are just placing limits on yourself.

Blender is harder to learn but I find is easier to work with existing stl files than Fusion.  However that's personal preference.
