Modifier box for infill speed doesn't work

Hi,

I'm working to make prints in clear PLA and PETG more transparent. As I have understood, print speed is one important factor when it comes to generating clear transparent material. To save time, and since only part of my model needs to be transparent, I have a normal base speed and want to modify the speed for parts of my model using a box modifier. However; when I add a box modifier and modifies all relevant speeds, the infill speed doesn't seem to change at all. I have attached a simple model to illustrate: A box where the speed of half of the box has been modified. If you go to "Preview -> View: Speed" and go down the layers you can see that the infill speed is the same in the two parts of the box. Am I missing some setting here?

As one of the heroes of this forum pointed out to me, my changing infill type is just a specific example of a more general workaround for this bug: Add another, any other, property to the modifier. E.g., add infill and set it to 99.9%. Or extrusion width and set it to 0.65001. You get my drift. Whatever you do, it kicks the speed adjustment into action.

Interesting.

First of all, thanks for uploading the 3mf file without having to be prompted 🙂

I noticed that if I change the infill pattern for that box to anything but gyroid, it will slow down as expected. In fact, I can also change the infill pattern in the other box, and then gyroid will print correctly. But as soon as the infill patterns on both sides are the same, the speed also becomes the same. Sounds like a bug to me, unless someone else has a rational explanation for it. If it's a bug, I'd report it on the Slicer github site, the devs don't hang out here.

Its a bug.  Its been reported multiple times on github and the earliest one is https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/4202 which has been open since May 2020

Hey it's only 2+ years! But we got a curved text tool instead so all is good. 😇
