Is PrusaSlicer supposed to crash when I add more filament?

I've been printing without issue for a little bit, repaired my is mk3 s+, and just upgraded it, but the software is puzzling.

Prusa Slic3r 2.4.0 crashes after I add more filaments causing me to lose any custom settings I had changed, and then after restarting the slicer, one of the the first time wizards pops back up, asking me to upgrade.  I can't select Prusament PETG on a 0.6mm nozzle; I have to use a generic PETG profile.  I'm not following the tooltips, warnings/prompts, and lock icons.... they are out of phase.  I don't know how to just save my settings to a new file, and I don't know why there's only an option to revert back to defaults with no option to save the setting change I just made.

I used Slic3r back before it was Prusa branded (going on 10 years now I suppose) and didn't need to tilt my head sideways like a dog to figure out how to save profiles and settings.  While the 3 points above don't seem to be related, I'm not sure I understand some of the basic premises behind to software, which is why I think I have those problems.

Possibly.

Filament profiles are essentially read only so you need to make a copy if you want to use different values.

Use the configuration wizard to create printer profiles for each printer for each size nozzle you intend to use. eg if you had a Mk3 and a mini and you used two different size nozzles on each, you would have 4 profiles.

There is an additional complication is you use a 3rd party print controller, Octoprint et al.

Is PrusaSlicer supposed to crash when I add more filament?

Obviously not. Can you describe how you are adding filament profiles?

I am having this issue now. In the dropdown for "Filament", just under Print settings, I click on Add/Remove filaments Add/Remove Presets option. It starts processing something (status window opens). Then the whole thing just crashes. This happens every time and not sure how to proceed without erasing the whole program and re-installing. 🙁

RE:

Slicer goes to the web to get new configuration data ... not sure what happens if you don't have internet access.

You might also try using the Configuration Wizard to add new filament, nozzle, and printer profiles (aka presets).  But the Add New preset in each tab should work, I believe they just call up the wizard.
