How to rotate the view without clicking the platter/background

A number of times I've found myself zoomed in on a small feature and wanting to look around it, but the model is filling the viewport and I can't see any background to click on in order to rotate. Left clicking the model just selects and moves the model it of course.

Is there a way around this? I tried in Slic3r just to see, and holding shift suppresses selection and allows you to rotate even when clicking on an object, but PrusaSlicer uses shift-click for box-selection, so... any alternatives?

Thanks very much! I didn't think to check the github issues. So it looks like there is a workaround in the form of activate cut/paint gizmos, and them control-click will not move the model. Would be nice to have a global solution at some point.

The thread seems to have tangented off the original point with the feature request https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/6805 to a separate problem related to the orbit focus, but it would be useful too.

There isn’t any way at the moment. There have been several related GitHub requests though already.
For example,

https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/6805
