How to prevent Prusa Slicer from placing the raft below supports outside the print bed?
How do I prevent Prusa Slicer from placing the raft below supports outside the print bed?
I have a large object which nearly fills the entire print bed (minus 2mm on each side). I have some overhangs near the edge which require supports. If the support was only straight below the object everything would be fine, but Prusa Slicer creates a raft below the support structure which exceeds the limits of the print bed. This is true for any type of support. I had hoped that maybe organic structure could do the trick if they grew from the inside to the outer edge, but no, Prusa Slicer places them even slightly more outside.

If that suggestion doesn't work out and you've created the object, perhaps add your own support as part of the model, keeping it inside the footprint?

This has been an open issue since at least 2018. Please see https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/849 which has some potential workarounds.

I found a solution:
- Type: Snug
- Pattern: Honeycomb
- First layer expansion: 1mm
This does the trick.
