How to force a single layer per pass when printing multiple objects

I'm trying to print a set of 6 polyhedral dice in HTPLA+ (3D870). The parts of objects with significant overhang are suffering from edge curl that ruins the surface finish. My fans are already running at 100% and I've tried slowing the print speed way down and dropping the extruder temp. But the problem is that PrusaSlicer is laying down 2 layers each time it visits an object, so that for each single pass of the bed a total of 2 layers is extruded. I assume this is an optimization to reduce travel moves/ooze/print time. How can I turn this off? It's ruining the overhangs on these very small objects.

Back when I used S3D I would simply force the slicer to drop speed optimization and travel reduction in favor of extending the layer print time by selecting "Print islands sequentially without optimization" on the layers tab. It worked great.

I've searched for this in PS but haven't found it. Am I missing it somewhere or do I need to submit a feature request.

Thanks!

You can open change requests in Prusa Slicer Git Hub

Would printing multiple objects separated on the bed increase the time between layers sufficiently?

@joantabb

Not the response I was hoping for, but thanks for the reply. I will head to github and create a new request if a similar one doesn't already exist.

@bobstro

Sorry if my original post wasn't clear - I'm already trying to print all six die at once.

thanks

RE: How to force a single layer per pass when printing multiple objects

Here is an example of what's happening:

I have 6 objects (A, B, C, D, E and F) on the plate that are sliced by PS. PS orders the printing as follows:

Pass 1:  A (layer1,layer2) , B (layer1,layer2) , C (layer1,layer2) , D (layer1,layer2) , E (layer1,layer2) , F (layer1,layer2)

Pass 2:  A (layer3,layer4) , B (layer3,layer4) , C (layer3,layer4) , D (layer3,layer4) , E (layer3,layer4) , F (layer3,layer4)

Pass 3:  A (layer5,layer6) , B (layer5,layer6) , C (layer5,layer6) , D (layer5,layer6) , E (layer5,layer6) , F (layer5,layer6)

What I want to be able to do is force the slicer to print a single layer per pass like so:

Pass 1:  A (layer1) , B (layer1) , C (layer1) , D (layer1) , E (layer1) , F (layer1)

Pass 2:  A (layer2) , B (layer2) , C (layer2) , D (layer2) , E (layer2) , F (layer2)

Pass 3:  A (layer3) , B (layer3) , C (layer3) , D (layer3) , E (layer3) , F (layer3)

Thanks

RE: How to force a single layer per pass when printing multiple objects

Could you save your project file and zip it up and attach it here please.  (must be zipped or the forum doesnt accept the file type).

I have not seen PS do slicing in that order.  When I have had multiple objects it just lays down a single layer for each object and then moves on to the next one.  Thats with 2.2.0.  Cant say I've really looked at 2.3.0 though.  I know they did do some travel path changes though with 2.3 for the avoid cross perimeters coding so its possible theres a new bug in there.  One reason why I'd be interested in seeing the project.

In 2.3. you could try to define a fixed place for the seam. That should force PS to start a layer at the same place, so it shouldn't do two subsequent layers for one object.
