Help Needed with Slicing Issue

Hey all,

If you haven't figured it out from my screen name yet, I am an intern at an R&D engineering company and have been put in charge of their 3D printer, a Prusa i3 MK3S+. I have been using it for a few months now but came across this issue today. The design sent me a part to print to do a test fit. The model shows the top part of the edge but once I slice it, the top part goes away. My initial thoughts were that the geometry is too thin to print with my settings but I am at a loss as to how to fix this issue. Below are some screenshots of the issue and my slicer settings.

Thanks for any help in advanced,

Phill

Best Answer by sylviatrilling:

You could try enabling 'Detect thin walls' from the layers and perimeters panel and see if that fixes it.

As Sylvia mentioned try "Detect thin walls" first, if this doesn't work, or gives an undesired result, turn it off and try adjusting your extrusion widths of perimeters and External perimeters. you can do this for the entire model or use "height range" modifiers to isolate the effected area.

Good Luck

It was Detect Thin Walls

Thanks to you both! That was the solution to this problem. I was unaware of this setting. Much appreciated!

Beware:  Don't leave it on by default; it causes as many problems as it fixes but remains a useful tool in its place.

Cheerio,
