Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
Dear all,
a lot of filament presets or print settings that I created for my MK2.5. are not showing up in my Ender 3 (or other printers) settings.
What is the procedure to let it show up? Unfortunately, I don´t understand the already posted solutions. Importing "old" config bundles does not help.
Thank you, Peter
Best regards, Peter
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
I'm also having this problem. I have some custom filament settings set for my I3 and Voron but when I went to slice some stuff for my friend's Ender 3 all of the Filament options change. I would expect these to be independent of the printer.
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
Same. Have struggled with this for awhile. I'll detach a print setting and save it. Select all printers and all print settings and it won't work. Plus the saved checkboxes will change the next time it opens.
I can save a new preset for a MK3S+ and it will show as there for a MINI but will not show for a MMU2 printer. Time waste. Frustrating.
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
I also have this frustrating problem, but only switching between an MK3S, an MKs3+ and a Mini. I'm pretty sure it happened after I installed a friend's Artillery printer in Prusaslicer (since deleted). Has anyone found _any_ solution? I have a lot of customizations in my slicer and really don't want to want to do a full reinstall....
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
This is a feature of Prusaslicer. It prevents inappropriate profiles being selected (profiles for Mk3 used on brand x printer).
Select each material in turn and create a copy with an appropriate name (something to indicate target printer). Now look at Printer Settings/Notes, and you will see at least 2 variables, in my case PRINTER_VENDOR_SOVOL PRINTER_MODEL_SV01). Now look at copied profile, Filament Settings/Dependencies/Compatible Printer Conditions and change it to your PRINTER_MODEL, so in my case printer_model!="SV01".
Obviously you will need to make changes to the copied version of the MK3 filament profiles to suite your brand x printer.
Does anybody know what the exclamation mark means?
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
I understand the above may seem complicated, please post if anything is unclear.
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
Not withstanding the above if you still wish to mix-n-match printers and filament profiles there is a setting in preferences, "show incompatible print and filament profiles" which would seem (I have not tried it) allow this.
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
Thanks for the info. Shortly after posting, I just rebuild the filament profiles I needed from scratch. I have plenty of others, so I'll give the above a try.
I will say, though, that I'm confused about why filament profiles would deemed incompatible by default. I know there are cases--different filament width, direct drive with flex vs bowden tube--but it seems like they are the exception, not the rule, and that it's more hassle to create a new profile from scratch then to just copy and adapt a profile from another printer.
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
I know there are cases--different filament width
I would guess the most common would be incompatible max temps.
Needed to restart PrusaSlicer through
It seems that PS reads the profiles on start up, then uses local cache.
RE: Filament presets are not showing up for every printer
I just had the same problem. And came up with a simple solution:
Press the button "Detach from system preset"
Worked for me 😊
