Feature Request - Interior Brim Option Please!

Hi there,

This feature request comes up here and there and it's very low priority, but I wanted to bring it up again. It would be absolutely wonderful if PrusaSlicer added the ability to have an interior brim option. I'm printing cookie cutters and they have a rounded edge on the bottom (interior and exterior). There's one layer of overhang above the first layer that the Prusa Mini doesn't like and it causes the interior and exterior print perimeter lines not to stick to each other in random places. After that it prints great.

I understand that I can make my own brim in the modelling program, but it's pretty time consuming. It would be awesome if we could just enable an interior brim within the slicer. It already does exterior brim just fine!

I tried downloading SuperSlicer which has options for interior brim. I imported the profiles I have setup inside PrusaSlicer, however SuperSlicer seems to slice my models in a different way. PrusaSlicer produces better gcode files and I'd really like to keep using it. Could the SuperSlicer interior brim options be migrated to PrusaSlicer?

It would be even better if I could print without a brim at all, but that seems to not be the case. I don't even need it for adhesion, it sticks just fine without one. I've tried enabling "Detect Bridging Perimeters" but unfortunately that doesn't seem to fix the issue.

RE: Feature Request - Interior Brim Option Please!

First of all, welcome.  Secondly this is a user to user forum and the devs dont hang out here often.  All feature requests and bug reports need to be made over on the Prusa Slicer github located here https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues

If raising a new issue please use the template and make sure all the required information is filled in.  However also please search and make sure the issue being raised doesn't already exist and isn't a duplicate.  Your request would certainly be a duplicate.

On the subject of SuperSlicer, yes it slices differently.  That is the result of making requested changes to fix other issues.  Also I would recommend against using any of the newer 2.3.55 builds that are built against PS2.3 as there are still loads of niggly and not so niggly issues that need to be fixed.  I'd use the stable 2.2.release that is built against PS2.2.  Prusa made so many good changes with 2.3 but it has rather broken the SuSie releases based on it until Merill can fix them.

@neophyl

Ah fair enough, thank you! I suppose I won't make another feature request then because they've already been made. Just a shame that I can't bring it up again.

PrusaSlicer does a really great job slicing the cutters so I'm going to keep using it. If they added interior brim options it would be PERFECT.

If you have any other tips on how to fix my single layer overhang issues, please do share.

Interior brim is already part of Prusa Slicer 2.4.  The original thread was from April 2021 and things have progressed since then.
