Exporting as STL with modifiers
Hi everyone. I'm using modifiers to create texture on a design and I would like to export this as a STL (not g-code) with the modifiers. I tried "Export plate as STL" however the output file doesn't include the texture.
Any ideas on how I can export STLs with modifiers? Thanks
RE: Exporting as STL with modifiers
Its because your texture isn't part of the model but caused by the infill, which is only generated when its sliced. The modifiers are just areas used to determine what settings are applied to an area. You cant do what you want. You would need to modify the underlying model with the texture, not something that PS can do.
RE: Exporting as STL with modifiers
If you save it as project it'll be a .3mf which contains modifiers etc.

You do have the option in Slicer & from the g-code viewer to save your work out as an .OBJ from the tool paths. this will persevere the esthetic of your work you have done in Slicer as a very high poly model that can be imported into any 3D program that supports .OBJ (Blender, 3DSMax, etc.,,)
Be aware that the resulting model is very "expensive"<--resource wise, the example shown is 436,258 polygons/Faces, if you have a strong machine/PC this won't be any problem, and you can import the model and use it for reference to rebuild or re-mesh and it's scaled properly.
Note: this is not going to be a model you would want post on Thingiverse or any of those type of sights, Prusa Slicer is not a 3D modeling program !, however if you want to reference some portion of an effect from a modifier or lost model, this is a valid way to recover the dimensions and/or reference.
If you have skills with a 3D software this can be very Handy.
Good Luck, Hope this helps
