Custom brim/tabs elephant's foot compensation...

Why can't All settings be available as modifiers and per object basis? This is the second time I invent some grand scheme in solving a problem only to find it can't be done accurately because a setting isn't available for individual objects..

This time I modeled small tabs 3 layers high instead of using using a generated brim because I find it leaves an ugly sharp edge on the print, I figured I might as well model proper multilayer tabs for better sticktivity.. but nooooo, computer says nooooo... The thing is, the tabs wont connect with elephants foot enabled, and I otherwise quite like elephants foot compensation as it makes edges less sharp..

Erm what settings exactly are you trying to add on a per object basis ?  As Elephants foot compensation, Brim separation gap, Brim type and brim width are ALL available for configuration on a per Object basis.  While some aren't available for Modifiers that is because in many cases it either doesnt make sense or its very difficult to achieve.

Btw several github requests for more options to be added to modifiers already exist.  I think the currently open main one is https://github.com/prusa3d/PrusaSlicer/issues/3635

To clarify further, I need to disable it on the tabs otherwise the tabs wont touch/melt enough to fuse with the main object.. And moving the tabs closer makes the slicer treat them as one and thus makes a continuous perimeter of the tabs and the main object... Perhaps I could enable a brim on the tabs to force the first layer closer 🤔... shall give it a go...

You might want to change the default setting Prusa uses for Slice Gap closing radius. Its usually 0.049mm, change it by at least a factor of 10.  I like to use 0.005mm. That is responsible for so many slice calibration/torture tests failing as the slicer merges adjacent geometry.  Not saying that will fix it as I don't have a copy of your project to examine and see the exact problem you are dealing with but its an avenue of investigation to check.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try that too. I found that increasing the extrusion width to 0.7 on the tabs took me further towards my goal but it also did some strange things with my main object.. tab to the left..

RE:

I found it! You can infact set the elephants foot compensation on a per object basis, but, I like to work with step files containing multiple bodies in an assembly. Prusaslicer don't quite treat them as individual objects however, rather as parts or modifiers which don't have all the settings available. So, now I have a second question: Can I in prusaslicer "explode" the parts to individual objects somehow? I haven't found a way yet, but I'm looking..

Edit; found a way, Split > To objects. Sadly it's only possible to split everything at once, and there are bits in the assembly that I don't want to split..

RE:

Yes, the Split to Objects control.  Located at the top. However Prusa Slicer as you have discovered treats Objects and Parts differently.  ALL objects need to touch the build plate, at least in some tiny area.  So any object you split will have all the new Objects fall to the plater if they were not already touching as Parts.

SO for example if you had a baseplate with some text on it that was a single Object made up of 2 Parts and you split to Objects the text would 'fall down' onto the platter and no longer be visible.

Also if you have separate Objects overlapping and slice, well bad things will happen.  Bad in this instance being multiple extrusions being placed into the same space so not recommended.
