Changing print speed for a specific filament type

Hello,

I lower the print speed when printing TPU to get better results. Currently, I do this using the rotary knob, but I'm wondering if there's any reason not to insert “M220 S75” in PrusaSlicer > Filament > Custom G-code > Start G-code and “M220 S100” in PrusaSlicer > Filament > Custom G-code > End G-code to restore the original speed % ?

Tks

RE:

Why not change max volumetric speed for that specific filament and save it as a new filament profile?

Tks for your replay,

does changing this value have the same effect as adjusting the speed in percentage terms, as the printer allows during printing ? How can I convert the 75% speed I set using the knob into volumetric speed ?

As you can tell, I’m no printing expert—far from it. 😉

RE:

1. load the model and slice it
2. in the sliced view in the legend select volumetric speed
3. take a note what is the speed for the given section - generally probably just perimeters speed is enough
4. in the Expert mode edit filament preset, in  Advanced section look at the Max volumetric speed and lower it and reslice. You can also experiment with other speed movements parameters if needed.
5. repeat above until you get 75% speed
6. save as new preset.

I had recently situation that I had to change Silk PLA speed from 21mm^3/s to 4mm^3/s to make it to print properly...
