changed type of part to 'support enforcer' but no effect

not sure what I'm doing wrong here.   I would expect support material to be generated , bit it's not... can anybody help?  Thanks

Common problem with people who aren't familiar with how the modifier blocks work.  They have to interpenetrate the part.  The modifiers were the 'old' way of doing things.  Painting is the 'newer' way but both have their place.
Fundamentally though what both methods are doing is marking faces on the model where you want to have or block supports.  If the modifier doesn't touch the face then it doesn't mark it.  A lot of people also think that putting a blocker will stop support going through the modifier, it doesn't.  If you have an area that needs support above a blocker, then the support will go right through the blocker to the plater.  As I say they just define faces on the model.

So if you add them in your cad program and snap the face of the modifier mesh to the face of the part then it doesn't actually do anything and mathematically they don't touch.  The mesh needs to go a fraction more to actually go through the face of the mesh.  Its why painting is usually easier that using modifier meshes now when you know how the brushes work, like smartfill etc (generally, there are a couple of caveats to that).

I've attached a zip file with 2 3mf projects in.  One with your modifiers moved up slightly that generates the support and an example with them removed and the paint on support tool used for you to examine.

Do you have Don't Support Bridges turned on? If so, turn it off.

Please save your Prusa Slicer project (File>Save Project As).  Basically get it so you are having the issue and then save it.  That will save a .3mf file that contains the models and all the settings used as well as the modifiers you have placed.  It allows anyone to slice with exactly the same settings you are using and look for problems.

However to attach a project to the forum here you will need to ZIP it up into an archive.  if you don't the forum will just silently not attach it.  With the edit time being so short its best to post and then double check it attached afterwards right away.

Also please let us know what version of the slicer you are using and that the project was created with.

great - thanks @neophyl - much appreciated.   As you say, both painting and support models have their have their place.

Incidentally, I use Cura for supports in general, (which doesn't need the support model to intersect and produces easy to remove, quality-interfaced supports as standard).
