Can't get modifier to add top layers
I'm trying to create holes in the bottom of an STL model to insert magnets. The approach that is almost working is to add a modifier that is the size of the hole and changing the perimeters to 0, the infill to 0 and the top layers to 5. What's not working is that the modifier is not adding any top layers to the modifier leaving the top of the hole open to the rest of the infill. If I change the modifier to be a part instead, it just gets absorbed by the model itself.
RE: Can't get modifier to add top layers
Try turning off the top layers of your modifier. I seem to remember being confused about this myself, and I think that might have been the result.

I found a solution by going into the print settings under "Multiple Extruders / Advanced" and ticking the Interface Shells box (force the generation of solid shells between adjacent materials / volumes).

Great. Thanx for the update. I'll try to remember that next time I run into the same issue.
