Better Time Estimates?

Hi all,

So does anyone know how to get better time estimates from PrusaSlicer? I've got one that it estimated 40 hours and took closer to 50. I have it at 100% speed so I don't see why there is such a large discrepency.

Any tips would be helpful, I'm trying to use this for a business so machine hours and filament usage is pretty important for pricing.

Thanks,

~Neil

Hi Neil,

Are you printing with Octoprint or similar?

I believe this adds a time delay overhead working via USB...

RE: Better Time Estimates?

We would need more details about your printing setup,  as Joan mentions if you are running Octoprint that can effect things but other settings for non prusa printers can also throw off the calculations.  For example there are a bunch of printer settings for max speeds and accelerations/jerk etc under the printer profile.  However if the actual printer has different slower max values set in its firmware it can use the slower inbuilt ones, which of course means all the estimates get thrown out.

When the settings for the hardware in Slicer match the actual hardware /firmware values then the estimates get pretty good really.  My MK3 prints usually finish within a couple of minutes of estimates (usually earlier) and a 60 hr print on my Cr10 finished within 15 minutes of what I was expecting.

Gotcha. Yeah I'm running a stock MK3s except for the raspberry pi 0w addition so I igured they would be close. I may just have to forego the convienience of Octoprint on my longer prints.
