Adding objects in PrusaSlicer

Sorry!  I'm new and I'm sure this has been asked and answered many times, but I'm failing to find the solution.  I was able to do this when I made my first print (about a month ago) but now I can't seem to make it happen.   I'm printing files that have multiple pieces, and I want to put more than one of them on the plate to print simultaneously. I'm trying with the "add" tool at the top toolbar, but the desired files aren't showing up as options.   I tried to import files from the menu - no dice.  I tried pre-slicing all the parts I want to use, exporting the files and then closing them, opening up the slicer and trying to import them. It will show them as recent projects, but when you select them, it says they are not available.   I tried dragging and dropping, still no dice. What am I doing wrong????   This has to be the noob-iest of all noob problems, yeah?

The add button is a shortcut for the import function in the file menu - you could try that route .... but it sounds more like a filer or filetype issue which is most likely with your operating syatem.  What OS are you using?

Are you able to select a group of files and load them together?

What are the file types you want to load?

I tried pre-slicing all the parts I want to use, exporting the files and then closing them, opening up the slicer and trying to import them.

That sounds like you're trying to save Goode files and then import them. Add doesn't work with Goode files, it needs to be STL, 3mf, obj, step (maybe a few others).  Those formats contain object descriptions Prusaslicer can work with, gcode files contain instructions for the printer.

I'm using Windows 11.    When I try to use the add buttons- either from the top tooltop or the dropdown the files just don't exist in the folders.   It opens up the folder that, it is saved in, it will show only the file I've already got on the plate on the slicer but none of the rest of the files.

when I go to add more files to the slicer, it seems like the stl that I downloaded no longer exist.   If i go out of slicer and look in the file folder, they are right there.  But within slicer, using the add tools...no dice.   I tried dragging and dropping, but it won't work either.   Is it that the stl files themselves are somehow getting saved as shortcuts but are really somewhere else?  or have corrupted paths or something?

Try saving an stl file FROM PrusaSlicer - does that show up?  If so, compare the filetypes in your filer.
