A Snap to Grid Option Would Be Wonderful
Hello,
I am trying to print out 50 individual small blocks. I want then to print in a specific order and I am an compulsive engineer so having them in a perfect grid appeals to me. I can do it manually, but it takes a long time.
I found that the latest version of Prusa Slicer now has the ability to change the print order. That is great. It is a bit tedious, but effective. Having a snap to grid, as exists in a lot of graphics type programs, would be great. My individual parts are 16 mm cubes. Being able to set a 20 or 25 mm grid pattern, and the ability to snap the part to the grid would be perfect.

Hi Willie,
Why not Create a grid of items in your 3D program, join them together into a single STL and import the STL as a single item
because if you ask slicer to arrange them you will get something like this
which is most annoying... 🙂
I have enclosed a file called soldiers.zip, which contains a 3MF file that you can play with.
note as supplied, the cubes are all in one part, if you split the part into objects you can let slicer try and auto arrange them, they will end up further apart and with two odd parts outside the main mesh...

I thought about that. I will probably have to do that. It would be great to have snap to grid sometime.

Does anyone know how to put stl generated mesh objects into a new sketch. I just downloaded PrintaBlok files. I want to layout a 5 x 5 grid of the individual Bloks.
