Didnt Tommy confirm this to you on Discord earlier?

Confirm what? What was in the box? Like what is exactly going to be part of the Founder's kit... No. Only that Olaf confirmed that he had no idea what the sensor was or at least implied this.

RE: Update...(Kind of)

I am not even contemplating the possibility that what is being shown now is not part of the founders' kit. Shipping hasn't even started.

I understand that a pessimist is never badly surprised but in this case showing stuff before the launch that are not part of the founders kit would be absurd 🙂

I'm just wondering how much of this is production versus founders? Are we looking at stuff that isn't part of the Founder's edition kits? Anyway, I guess they'll announce what will be shipping soon enough.

Of course, nothings set in stone, but with the context being around this sensor, I think this is as good as confirmation.

I mean, today the only new things are the prime bin and this sensor, and i highly doubt either are going to be so prohibitively expensive that they would only be included in the retail kit.

Actually I never saw the response in the noise which makes me hate Discord even more.

time for me to “shit or get off the pot” as the saying goes 😂 at least I have a few more days to procrastinate on my decision to commit. With any luck Prusa will leak bit more details between now and Sunday to help me along.

With that though, im assuming I’m not alone. So expect a second lot to go up for sale prior to initial shipments. May indicate we are still a few weeks out from seeing anything ship

You tease, what does it say on the bottom line? 😅

So the undecided of us, have until 19th to pull the trigger or not 😊

Hello,

Watching the videos, it seems they still need to design the cable guide for the print head instead of a simple PTFE tube.

Yeah Tommy did mention there's one thing they're still working on, I thought the camera mounting, but could well be this.

One interesting thing about that nozzle sensor thing is how quick it works...looks like it's used after every tool change, but it's like a second with the X and Y movements.

After all that fuss and frustration about the ultra-stable-but-obstructive tool dock fence, they need to recalibrate the nozzle position after every tool change anyway?! Can we please get the lightweight docking rail back then?

My wife loves to sell stuff on vinted (an online secondhand store for those not in Europe). She might manage to get a 10er for it

I think from every bit of info, I scoured across the different platforms, that came from Tommy or others close to it was that the issue was the limited stable fixing and likely subsequent movement over time. Yes calibration but also likely a need to retighten the clamps that were just wrapping around the existing bar. I really would still have preferred if they jsut bulked that up but that ship has sailed. Who knows, maybe for the “Core two”

I doubt that there is a recalibration happening in this video.

I don't see how this would work since the bed (and therefore the calibration PCB) moves down as the print progresses, also if that was the offset calibration, it would be incredibly quick.

Probably the default movement path to the prime bucket  is set like that to properly wipe the nozzle and possibly to reduce the risk of a collision with the printed object in the middle of the bed.

Right -- it might not just be about position accuracy after docking, but about the ability to reliably "grab" the new tool in the first place.

Seems that the ship has sailed as far as the kitted solution goes. But I do expect community mods from users who are willing to drill a couple of extra holes into the printer's frame. (And who will hopefully have the good sense to make or buy some metal parts, rather than try and 3D-print a plastic rail.)

I thought the fence was more to do with picking up and parking ?
I guess with only a second time overhead, why not recalibrate on every tool change?

I should point out that my assumption is from a very short clip on reddit, its only shows one tool change. Im basing my assumption on that alone.

Yep, I'm hoping with the affordability of services like send cut send, then community designed parts can easily be shared and manufactured.

RE: Update...(Kind of)

Time to create the high resolution dual camera mod… Were you mount a purpose built screen in front of the Chasity belt and then the cameras show you what’s going on inside the printer on the screen in the front of the printer.

duh, why make it look pretty when you can sell a very expensive add-on option option!? 😏
