sudden stringing problems

Hi all,

I have my core one now for a few months and its been great up to a week or so ago..

Suddenly it started stringing irregularly.. i thought it might have been a partial clog issue.. or filament (too wet or something) but i have already replaced the nozzle and have similar problems both with pla and petg (even on new rolls)

I do remember upgrading to the last firmware around that period, but not sure that is exactly when it started.

any ideas on where to start troubleshooting fixing? (temp settings, retraction settings? rollback firmware... or other) and which order would be best to start...

thanks for your help

We see lots of similar issues at change of season.   Air conditioning (usually) dries the air it cools, so does central heating.  In spring and autumn there is usually a period when neither is used and ambient humidity rises - as does stringing on 3D prints.

Dry your filament.  New <> dry.

Cheerio,

RE: sudden stringing problems

thank you for your reply,

it is something i definately considered, but i doubt that's the cause, my printer is in a room that is relatively stable in temp/humidity, no airco nor central heating. I have similar problems with dried pla, new pla, old pla... petg (new and old) never had that issue before so i wish it were but it i am pretty sure it is not the filament nor seasonal related...

Regardless, unless you live in a desert with 0-1% relative humidity I would invest in a filament dryer and dry boxes (or keep the filament in an air tight bag with a desiccant pack). Wet filament is the most common cause of stringing. Otherwise, if you are certain this isn't the issue, try lowering the nozzle temperature. Can run a temperature tower to confirm the best setting.
