Nextruder V6 Nozzle Adapter yes or no

Does anyone use the Nextruder V6 Nozzle Adapter and does it work well?

RE: Nextruder V6 Nozzle Adapter yes or no

I have used it on my MK4S prior to upgrading to the Core One.  It works just as well as the standard Nextruder nozzles for printing.  The only caveat is that you must hot tighten the nozzles to ensure a leak free seal between the nozzle and the adapter. One benefit of using the adapter is the availability of nozzles not yet manufactured for the Nextruder (i.e. hardened .25mm).

If you do go this route you need to follow the standard procedure for replacing an E3D v6 nozzle.  The adapter should be screwed firmly into the top of the heater block and the nozzle tightened to its final torque with the hotend heated to around 285C (there should be a small gap between the nozzle hex and the heater block when properly installed).  Failure to do so may result in a leak between the nozzle and the adapter inside the heater block resulting in, best case filament oozing around the adapter and nozzle, and worst case ruining your heat block because the plastic has "welded" the parts together in a huge blob.

Regards,

Steve

Yes, I've read horror stories about things going terribly wrong. For now, I'll stick with the standard nozzle. But I'll definitely try it later. I already bought this nozzle for my MK4S, which has several nozzle sizes, and it would be a shame to leave them behind. I just never had the courage to try it. I hope others have had positive experiences.

I didn’t follow the instructions for V6 adapter installation and ruined a heat block. I really don’t want to go through that again. It’s just much easier to work with Nextruder specific nozzles. I never print with PLA, so don’t see the need (for me) to go below 0.4mm
