Mk4 to Core one upgrade

Hi, Can someone please help. I am not sure whether this belongs in the mk4 or core one forum but I have just bought and built the mk4 to core one upgrade kit. I have used the online manual to the letter but I find that when I started up for the first time I got the error message telling me to update the firmware, insert the usb drive and press the knob. The printer does not do anything, it just stays on that message.

I contacted support through live chat and I was asked to disconnect the door sensor and restart the printer again, I did this and I got the whole range of options as normal but it was for the mk4 and not the core one, I was then asked to update the mk4 firmware but as the old mk4 was up to date this didn't do anything, I was then asked to do some of the various reset options which I did but none of them worked. By this time I decided that I was getting nowhere and ended the chat.

So now I have a core one printer that thinks it is a mk4, complete with mk4 firmware. So could someone please tell me how to get rid of the mk4 firmware and load the core one firmware to get this costly pile of parts up and running.

Known issue — your xBuddy board still identifies as MK4, so it refuses the Core One firmware. Support's approach is right in spirit but the order matters. This works:

1. Power off. Disconnect both the extension board AND the door sensor switch.2. Put MK4S firmware **6.2.3** (.bbf) on a FAT32-formatted USB stick, in the root (not in a folder).3. Insert stick, press the reset button. When the Prusa logo appears, click the knob twice (a single click often doesn't register — that's a documented quirk).4. Let it flash. When it boots into the MK4 setup wizard, pick your language and skip every calibration.5. From the menu, do a **hard Factory Reset**.6. Power off, reconnect the extension board and door sensor.7. Now put the latest Core One firmware (6.5.3) on the stick and flash it the same way.

The printer should then come up as a Core One and run the Core One setup wizard. If the flash screen never appears at step 3, try a different USB stick formatted FAT32 — even sticks that work fine for G-code sometimes don't work for flashing.

Error code reference for what you're seeing: #13701 (MK4 firmware on Core One hardware mismatch).

Thanks for your very swift reply, it worked a treat, no issues now and I have just done all the calibrations and they all passed. Thanks again for taking the time to answer.
