Display problems -- root cause known?
My Core One (kit) display worked fine for several months, but then started to show sporadic flicker and dropouts. The firmware detected that and suggested to switch to a lower data transfer rate, which did fix (or rather mask) the problem. But I am not fond of the resulting, noticeably slower scrolling and refresh rates.
Is the underlying problem known? It must be issues with the SPI data transmission at high speed. The connection is via a longish ribbon cable, but it looks like Prusa has provided proper differential drivers for the signals, so this should have a fair chance of working -- and obviously does work in many cases.
I have tried the obvious things: Wiggle the plugs, check the cable for damage. But have not taken an oscilloscope to the signals yet. Before I head down that rabbit hole: Are there any known typical (physical) root causes for the transmission problems? Cable routing, interference from within the printer or from external sources, power supply issues...?
RE: Display problems -- root cause known?
Hello Jürgen,
I have exactly the same problem with my display.
At first, it worked for a few hours, but then the display started flickering, and I had to set the transfer rate to low. This isn't great, of course, because the display tends to lag. Prusa has already sent me a new cable and display, but the error has returned. The cable was routed separately to avoid foreign frequencies; the cable and connectors are all fine.
I should contact Prusa Support again.
