Core One screams. Don't know why.

Hello.

Just think the problem is in the XY gantry since I checked everything else.

See this video...

Video of a printer going into resonance

I only see a still photo?

Some background information would be helpful too. Is this a kit or a factory-assembled printer? Has it always done this, or is it a new behavior that has suddenly set in? Does it print ok while "screaming", or does one of the motion axes stop due to step loss?

As Jürgen already said, some information would be very helpful!

Even though I don't know what the noise sounds like, I can understand what you mean. After assembling my conversion kit, I also had noises when the X/Y axis moved. It got noticeably better (unfortunately not gone yet) when I tightened all the screws on the Nextruder and the XY axis. The print head is probably vibrating and transferring that to the housing.

What kind of surface is your printer standing on?

Sorry for the first post without video!

Not sure if it will work this time.

Anyway, this happens at 15 - 16s on this video (if you see it).

I did see some people having solving such problems here by loosening linear bearings and doing belt calibration again.

Will give it a shot this weekend.

Happens at ~ 15-16s...

It is a kit. It was upgraded to Core One +.

Did not do any noise for 4 months.

Stands on a sturdy 3cm thick plank of wood, fixed to the wall and the underneath furniture.

Belt were retensonned and accelerometer used to calibrate IS.

Belt were retensonned and accelerometer used to calibrate IS.

Have you run the phase stepping calibration? That should reduce a lot of the noise (it did for me)

Strange -- your post did still not show a video, but quoting it reveals the link. So I have watched it now. 👍

I would not call that noise "screaming". It is just some part that vibrates, excited by a certain stepper motor frequency. Maybe a screw has come loose somewhere. Certainly nothing dramatic.

However, the source of such resonances is hard to locate. You can try and touch various parts of the printer while the resonance occurs, to see whether that dampens the sound. Or just go around and check whether the screws are still tight: The various M3 screws on the print head, the gantry mounting brackets, the stepper motors, and the mounting blocks for the Y rails are good starting points, I think.

Hi JPMath,
the reason your video's are not showing, is because there is some formatting information surrounding the link address
See image below

I deleted the formatting data, and the link is now visible

I have some hope in this solution but we'll see how it goes on Friday:
https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/754670/

I agree it is not catastrophic, but I use to print in stealth mode, and have get used to the quietness, so every sound like this is like scratching a blackboard to me.
I'll keep you posted.

What I did :
- realigned the gantry following the "hard way" : dismantling tension pulleys and bending XY frame "gently";
- applied this to the linear bearings : https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/754670/ (seemed helpful)
- checked every accessible screws on the gantry
- mounted pulleys back, did calibration / movements X-Y until stabilized
- redid IS and and phase stepping.

Result : printer is now as quiet as it used to be. 😀
Thanks for the advices, I do not know what was responsible, but I suspect linear bearings did appreciate to be released then thighened back with the gantry squarred.
