BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX PRINTER

I am completely new to 3D printing however I have programmed G code for other CNC machines.  We bought the Core One as a gift for our kids and after setting it up we had no problem with the first day of prints having fun.   It then told us there was a new firmware and we updated it....since then we've had nothing but issues.  It was literally a Christmas present and we now are baffled as to how a firmware update could do this.  We noticed with the new firmware that we had to adjust belt tensioning all of sudden when before it was running fine.  Since the firmware update now we are getting spaghetti half way into prints...need help please.

pictures may be helpful.

when spaghetti happens, does the print detach from the build plate?

Often, the cause of prints, detaching from the build plate is caused by contamination of the build plate surface, this can be caused by mis handling the build plate, when removing models and when working on the printer.

I find that taking the build plate to the kitchen sink, and washing it with HOT WATER and dish soap, then rinsing with hot water, and drying immediately with plain paper towels (Keeping your hands and fingers to the edges of the build plate), (make sure your dish sponge is new and not greasy! ) often restores adhesion.
For PLA Prints, raising the build plate temperature to 70C often also helps.

As @joantabb says, a common problem with sudden degredation of a new printer, especially with children involved, is print-sheet cleanliness.  If problems persist after cleaning show us pictures of the problem including the underside of a failed print.

Cheerio,

This is great advice for smooth PEI plates. However, textured PEI plates are not waterproof and can be be damaged by hot water.

From the link you posted: "If your prints still do not adhere reliably to the print surface, try to wash the sheet in warm water (not hot!) "

Heh... I've been printing for years, but this is the first I've heard that the plates might not be waterproof... I'm guessing they might trap water under the PEI film?

I normally pour a little dish soap over the entire surface, rub it all over with my hand, and rinse with warm water, constantly rubbing to remove any residual chemicals. This takes maybe 15 seconds, and I don't see any chance of water getting anywhere. Especially since the plates repel water, which almost all drips off.

Then all I need is a towel and it's done. And I do this wearing nitrile gloves, because I can hold it securely.
