Any way to have an offline setup for the buddy3d camera?

I got the addon for free when I ordered the core one and I would really like to use it. But I don't want to give it access to the internet, which it seems to need to start taking timelapse video (I read that it must be done via the Prusa App or Prusa connect). I just want it to work with Prusa Link...

How can I use the camera with its full feature set without connecting it to the internet?

All the articles I've read state that the camera needs wifi in order to work. Now, does that mean automatically mean internet too? I don't think so. You can try setting up a custom wifi network just for your prusa equipment that creates a LAN but doesn't allow that LAN access to the web.

I also tried looking into whether you could use the USB port to stream the video to a raspberry pi, but couldn't find that info either. It could be that the USB just supplies power and has no data lines. The buddy3d camera is not on the list of open source equipment to check this. Definitely worth confirming though.

Yeah exactly, wifi does not mean internet access, but if I need to use the Prusa App and maybe Prusa Connect to use it, then it might need the internet access. I will check it though... But it does not seem that I can get a timelapse of a print in a convinient way, if I do not want to use Prusa Connect (only via micro SD card, which I do not think of as convinient)

Apparently I cannot even connect the camera to my wifi without also adding my printer to Prusa Connect... Prusa Link is absolutely enough for me, no need for anything other than that.

I tried to connect the camera to my wifi with the "share wifi" feature on android, but apparently that is an "invalid QR code" as the camera told me. Why doesn't it just connect to the printer via USB-C (which it does already for power) and then make the camera feed and all the camera options available via Prusa Link... That is what I expected from Prusa, not this lock-in to their cloud service

There are no controls on the camera so you initially need the app to make the first connection. After that it connects to your accespoint and you can block internet access. I use the IP adress of the camera to stream directly to my computer, no problem with timelaps if you want, just go to rtsp://10.0.0.xxx/live wherr xxx is the adress of your cam. In my case in firefox it opens VLC and from there you can do what you want.

My problem is, that in order to connect the camera via app, I also have to connect my printer to their cloud. I just do not want to do that...
