Nozzle clogged when changing high temp filament
Hey People,
when changing from the PC Blend Filament to regular PLA I probably hadn't preheated the nozzle enough and the PLA wasn't able to push out the rest of the PC Blend Filament during the cleaning and got stuck pretty badly.
Thank God I knew how to disassemble and assemble the whole print head so I could get it removed and everything running again.
Would there be a possibility to add a preheating in the firmware before changing the filament especially with higher temperature filaments so the nozzle doesn't get clogged by accident (unawareness)?
Best regards
RE: Nozzle clogged when changing high temp filament
There are several viable alternatives for clearing the nozzle when changing filament from high temperature to lower temperature materials. The one that I favor personally is to use a cleaning filament (I have a similar 100g "spool" that has lasted for over 5 years now) that is compatible across a broad temperature range to "flush" the higher temperature material from the nozzle prior to loading the lower temperature material. The cleaning filament's broad temperature tolerance means that it can be loaded at the high temperature required for PC or nylon for example but then is easily pushed through by the PLA or other lower temperature material.
