Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
I'm considering buying a Core ONE and I wonder if it will be possible to move the MMU3 I have on my MK3.5 to a Core ONE. I know there still is no official MMU3 for the Core ONE, but perhaps I have missed an announcement or some other things. Will the MMU3 kit be something I can transfer between these printers?
RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
It’s currently disabled in firmware, but it seems that simply enabling it isn’t enough and the firmware needs tweaking. Another user here (@WarezMonkey) tried it and didn’t succeed.
RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
Yes, the MMU3 is a rather reliable system, and it has been stated in the blog that it will be carried forward as the solution for the Core One.
I don't know why people think there will be a MMU4, or any other new MMU system. The only change required to the current MMU3 is the way in which it will attach to the Core One enclosure, which will most likely be a new set of 3D printable brackets to replace the current ones. Otherwise, the system, and the concept, should remain.

There s another thread where a member has documented his investigation into integrating his MMU3 to his Core 1, with limited success. Iirc he has given up as it was too problematic without the firmware update that incorporates it.

Yes, I gave up 🙁 I mostly got the hardware ok to a point where it would work, but the firmware wasn't the best and I couldn't get a good slicer profile to work with the existing G-codes. I await a firmware update. But my MMU3 sits on the back of my Core One waiting for implementation

I'm holding off building/printing parts for my MMU3 kit, save the fact I may need to print parts that may differ from the original design pending Prusa's announcement of its C1 integration. Fingers crossed that will come shortly after I get my C1........and I build it 😅

RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
Firmware 6.3.1 released today now has MMU3 support for the Core One 😀

RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
Perhaps they will also release the files to attach the MMU3 to the C1 soon. I certainly hope so.
RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
If I had the MMU3 on my mk4s is there anything I need to do special to the Core One to move it?
RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
Perform the steps to modify the nextruder and you should be good to go.

MMU3 now working great on Core ONE. No official Core ONE MMU3 slider profile though, but my G-code modifications worked.

RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
So the core one Nextruder does not have the mods to work with the MMU out of the box? I assumed since it was a bowden system already it would have all the upgraded parts and you would not need to change the nextruder at all on the core one for the MMU
Hopefully they offer the nextruder upgrade kit again for the MMU since I don't think they offer it anymore, if you have a MMU3 for a mk3 you are kinda outa luck unless you source the parts yourself.
RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
The Nextruder is the exact same as the MK4/3.9/3.5 so all mmu3 upgrades have the required parts. Really it’s very minor, it replaces the filament sensor with a different magnet. It requires the extruder motor to pull in the filament a bit.
RE: Move MMU3 from MK3.5 to Core ONE?
I have a mk3 with the V6 hotend, only the mk3.9/4 have a nextruder. Thus my MMU doesn't have the parts for a nextruder.
I found a kit on bluroll, the Prusa instructions indicate the Nextruder needs a main base plate under the gears. This Part here
https://www.prusa3d.com/product/main-plate-set-mmu3/
Blurolls has all the new parts in a little kit https://blurolls3d.com/products/blurolls-mjf-pa12-3d-printed-parts-mmu3-for-prusa-mk39-mk4-3d-printer-mmu3-upgrade-extruder-hotend?VariantsId=10047
Looks like I would only need to source a 3x1mm magnet as thats not included. But I bet i have something that would work in my WH 40K mini stuff lol.

In the prusa settings.ini you can already find the settings for the coremmu3. You just have to remove the ; and it will appear when you select the core mmu3.... I'm waiting for my core...
