RE: Bondtech INDX Nozzle Selection

It seems they might have change it... I haven't gone through the whole process yet because the site is laggy again (who would have seen this coming?), but I hope I might be able to swap two nozzles to 0.6mm. One is able to order different nozzle sizes as standalone orders, but I am not keen on spending another 75€ for two different nozzle sizes.

Nope, it's "one size fits all" for the nozzles. The only thing you get to select is the T-shirt size. Bummer...

Come to think of it, maybe the software/firmware does not yet support printing with multiple nozzle sizes anyway. I would not be surprised at all.

Given what is currently going on. It wouldn't surprise me if the t-shirt was only available in small.

Nah, it's available in different sizes. I am going to write them an e-mail and ask for different sized nozzles or at least a voucher for 2 different ones. I don't want to pay double. We are putting our trust in Bondtech and giving them a looooooot of money, then it should be possible to customize and not having to buy different nozzles later on as well. They can keep the shirt though. 😛

Swapping that highly valuable 99€ T-shirt against two measly extra nozzles seems like a fair trade. 😎

Makes sense. Seems they are using g-code macros in the slicer and post-processing to split them out into the final g-code that gets sent to the printer. Prusa has had a full year to work on this though so I'm wondering about the delays.

I have been speculating that they were originally planning to support INDX in PrusaSlicer 3.0. If that is delayed (which it seems to be, given that we have not even heard rumors about limited beta testing), the present implementation might be a workaround they only kicked off relatively recently.

The INDX (fundamentally) is not that much different than the XL. I'm surprised they couldn't glom off of that. Anyway, yes it's plausible that PS 3.0 is holding things up.

SO how the heck do I actually order? The link in my email today takes me to a generic page about INDX but I don't see an option to log in and order.

Once you are past that hurdle, actually ordering is more of challange. The website is overloaded and timing out.

The RC of the new firmware says that it lays the foundation for the INDX. Maybe there won't be a version 3 for it?

It interestingly never times out for me, it just takes 10 minutes per click. 🙂

The "version 3" speculation was referring to PrusaSlicer (running on the PC). I assume another firmware release will be required as well; why else would they only mention "lays the foundation for INDX", not "supports INDX" for the present RC?

Yup. The 6.5.3 firmware doesn't have INDX support and it hasn't been released yet. I'm assuming the next firmware will be: 6.6.6 (of course)

RE: Bondtech INDX Nozzle Selection

Finally placed my order. I first had to discover that the top of the window with the login button was scrolled offscreen when I clicked on the link in the email. The whole process was non-intuitive and took about an hour as every click took forever to get a response.

To confirm: It's not mix-and-match. You get the same 0.4 for all toolheads, but you can add additional ones. The only sizes I was offered was 0.25 and 0.4, so no dice for a larger 0.6 or 0.8 nozzle.

On top of the unit price, I had to pay:

$87.60 import duties (thanks, Donald),

$17 customs processing fee,

$26.74 shipping

$14,81 Paypal fee (no warning of that, don't know if a credit card would be more or less)

0.6,0.8,1.0 are also available but CHT only. They are also hardened. Whenever I see "hardened tool" I can't stop laughing...

Regarding 4 vs 8, I think I read you can incrementally add extra "heads", you don't have to jump to 8 from 4, but instead add one or two more to suit your needs..
