RE:

I got the final box for my Core One kit two days before the email (two boxes got stuck in France) and decided to wait till I got the upgrade kit to assemble it.  It mocks me in the middle of my living room.  I sent an email through the Prusa contact portal and got the below response 11 days ago on December third:

"Hello Bob,

Thank you for contacting us.

We already started the shipping process of the Core One+ upgrade kit so you will receive it as soon as possible."

(I think it  is time I put my kit together and will add the upgrade whenever it arrives)

I get that you are promised a free Core One + upgrade but there is really nothing (in my opinion) valuable in the upgrade with the exception of the vent opener. The part STL's are freely available on Printables. You could just print what you want from it. The only thing missing is the "+" sticker.

FYI, there are three unprintable parts in the kit. There is the o-ring for tensioning the filament holder, the "+" sticker, and the all-important serial number sticker.

... (Stepping down from my pedantic soap box) ...

Ok, those last two stickers aren't really that important except for the completists among us. And, for the o-ring, someone has published a model to print in TPU:

https://www.printables.com/model/1487662-tpu-o-ring-for-core-one-plus-spool-holder

And, really, it's just a hollow cylinder with chamfered edges, probably 5 minutes in the CAD program of your choice if you are even halfway competent. Nice to have the published model for those who have no interest in CAD though.

Does the printer get a new serial number?? Or do they just provide a "Core One +" sticker which you tape over the existing serial number sticker? Or just a small "+" on silvery foil? 😎

I got a silver serial number sticker similar the the one already on the back of my C1 that identifies as a "Core ONE+" and has a new, unique serial number. Instead of covering my original C1 sticker, I put mine next to the original to build a history of the printer. Granted, my printer never existed as a C1OG as I got the C1+ upgrade kit before I started building my C1OG kit (really upgrade from MK4). I thought about, but didn't bother to move my MK4 and MK4S stickers to the new build for the history of where some of the parts (like the nextruder guts and all but 1 motor) came from. I may change my mind and move the MK4 stickers before I pack up and ship my old frame to someone who has shown interest in using it as a basis for a PrusaWire build.

Its a replacement sticker with a new serial number. You remove the old one.

RE:

A new serial number is odd in my opinion because a Core One+ is no different than printing and installing all the other various plastic mods that exist on Printables. It's not a new printer unless you want to start a ship of Theseus argument. For support and warranty I can imagine Prusa wouldn't care whether you gave them your C1 or your C1+ serial number.

A new serial number even seems detrimental. Say Prusa ever discover a safety issue in all power supplies used in a certain time frame -- recalling "all serial numbers from ... to ..." will no longer work.

But it will! Prusa has all SNs in its database, including addresses and emails to whom the printer with a unique SN was delivered.

Even for printers they sold via dealers?

Well, let's hope for the best. My experience with the ordering and ship date planning process, as well as with their IT tools which are visible to the public, makes me a bit skeptical...

The obligation to store addresses with SNs will probably also be required of sellers. Of course, I cannot say this with certainty.

I think the point is, they have not followed through on something they promised. Regardless of if we can print the parts, they said they would ship out a kit for free. That is the point. I was not aware of the new SN# issue.

I didn't pay any attention to the free upgrade since I bought mine from Amazon and paid for the upgrade myself. But when did they say they would ship the free upgrades out? Within a week of purchase? Before the end of 2025? In Q1 2026? It's only Jan 15...

RE: Free Core One+ upgrade if purchased in past 60 days?

The excerpt below is from the official email I received. So the upgrade kits should have started shipping at the beginning of December. For me it is also a question of principle. You promise a free upgrade kit, so you should deliver on that promise. But then there is absolutely no communication on when to expect it, or if my request was even processed. I am happy to wait, also if they want to serve paying customers first, but let me know about it and release a statement.

Print the Upgrade Yourself (Free Files): You can simply print the upgrade components yourself. The print files will be available for free on Printables.com within the next few days. This is the easiest and fastest way to get your CORE One+ experience right away! Request the Official Upgrade Kit (Free of Charge): If you prefer a ready-made solution, you can also fill out a short form, and we will send you the official CORE One+ upgrade kit free of charge. We will start shipping the upgrade kits on December 4, 2025.

Yes, understood that you should indeed get what you are promised. I agree. I assembled my kit in late June last year. Had I been promised a Core One+ upgrade kit, personally I would have printed it anyway (at least the vent opener) and when the actual kit arrived put the stickers on and recycle the kit parts.

Has anyone actually asked support where their upgrades are?

No sign here either. I remember it was supposed to be a while, but OK, it's been a while!

RE: Free Core One+ upgrade if purchased in past 60 days?

The issue isn’t about getting something that is promised.  The issue is the lack of communication on what is going on.  I have no problem waiting for something to ship. It was almost 6 months from order to arrival when I got my Prusa Mini (this is when they first came out).  But in that instance we knew when they started shipping, where our order was in the long list of orders, and they let us know when there was an issue in the build farm that caused a slowdown in the shipping rate.

In this case there is nothing other than they are going to start shipping in early December.  Not looking for an exact date of shipping, just some info on what is going on.

RE: Free Core One+ upgrade if purchased in past 60 days?

I asked support on December 11th if there was something wrong with my input on the Prusa voucher form. On December 18th I got a reply saying that there was no error in the input and that I would receive the update soon. Since then I have not heard anything from Prusa support so I am writing to them again to get a definition of the word soon.

I asked support via follow up email from my original request from December 17, and was told that by support, "... we are currently working hard on shipping out the upgrades, and our goal is to have them sent to everyone by the end of this month." So maybe by the end of the month we will get an email about the Core One+ upgrade kit. Maybe, hopefully, wishful thinking.
