Maybe if you printed the parts yourself you'd already have the CORE One+ upgrade ready. All the parts you need are listed on Printables.

The upgrade kits are cheap enough to buy, and saves all the print time etc, but what makes them non-economical (for me anyways) is the fact that shipping costs twice as much as the product! lol

Maybe it's me but I could frankly care less if a (free) $9 box of plastics parts and a sticker was delayed or never showed up. Everyone who owns a Core One and does more than just print benchys and gridfinity boxes should own a roll of PC-CF (prusa should have included some in the kit). You will eventually need spare parts. I've broken 2 fan shrouds and a tension pulley. Fortunately I had the foresight to print spares ahead of time so basically no downtime.

All of the parts (including the vent opener) can be printed with PETG. Then when the "real" parts arrived you can swap them out and that really only applies to the vent opener.

The only parts that concerned me (mildly) was the auto vent pieces which I did print using PETG which worked fine until the "real" parts arrived. You're right though, I have to get a spool of PC-CF eventually, but I need a filter first because I have no external ventilation options where my printers are.

I have printed some of the parts myself, but I have not been able to print the O ring successfully in TPU. Additionally there is the fact that I was promised by Prusa that a Core One+ upgrade kit was going to be shipped. That is just my situation. There is also the fact that other (like myself) just bought the Core One as their first ever 3D printer, and my not yet be comfortable in printing in PETG or PCCF, and need to receive the promised free upgrade kit to be able do the upgrade. Not everyone has access to everything needed and the skills to be able to print it just because it is available on Printables.

Please think and possible read the other comments before making repetitive (the fact that the part are available on Printables has already been mentioned) and unhelpful comments (not everyone is as skilled a 3D printer as you consider yourself to be).

Bob, I've had a 3d printer for about 5 years, but that doesn't mean I have any idea what I'm doing. However, and I can't stress this enough. If you can print PLA, you can print PETG. No fumes, no special magic to make it happen. Just buy it, add the profile (or use generic PETG like I do for 90% of my prints) and print it. I haven't printed PLA since the first free sample that came with my first Prusa Mini I bought. But I print things I use, which benefits from the properties of PETG over PLA. If all you print are doo dads to put on a shelf, then so be it. But there is nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing to be afraid of about PETG

On a Core One printer, PET-G and PC-CF are actually easier to print than PLA. The downside to PC-CF is that you need a hardened nozzle and it costs more. However, it is extremely easy to print. As long as the parts are not too big (like covers the entire bed).

PLA is often touted as a "beginner's filament" since it comes in a lot of colors and textures and is more tolerant to being left out in the open (i.e. it doesn't absorb moisture as quickly as PET-G) and also it doesn't need a heated bed. After that, it's a terrible filament. It's brittle, it clogs nozzles, it doesn't stick well to the bed if the bed is not clean and it will soften and warp in sunlight.

Finally, and this is my opinion (of course) but I don't consider the Core One to be a beginner's printer. It's more like intermediate to advanced. You have to take special precautions when printing PLA on the Core One because if you don't vent it well you can easily clog up the nozzle.

RE: Free Core One+ upgrade if purchased in past 60 days?

I just now got a message from DHL that a package from Prusa is on the way. I haven’t ordered anything from there recently, so unless they are sending me the core one L I really want, I’m guessing it’s the core one + upgrade kit.

While you might not consider the Core One a beginner's printer, reality is that for me (and apparently a number of others based on what I have seen the assembly forum), the Core One is a first printer. And your encouragement actually got me to print PCCF which, you are correct, is rather easy to print; expensive, but easy.

And isn't clogging the nozzle, learning how to clean it, and burning yourself on it all part of learning to print. 😀

So what is your go to filament for everyday prints for things to like Gridfinity and Skadis? Or are those just a beginner's toy as well? (slight sarcasm there, I don't think they are, but I could be wrong.)

Gridfinity and Skadis... in my opinion, PETG is a better choice over PLA but both are fine. I would favor PETG since it's more impact resistant and durable than PLA especially if you are dealing with tools etc. If you are printing anything that will be exposed to the sun then ASA is the best choice but make sure your printer is in a well ventilated area. It's more difficult to print but it's not particularly hard.

Gridfinity is interesting. I got on a gridfinity printing spree last summer but then kind of grew out of it. I still prefer just chucking things into a drawer.

RE: Free Core One+ upgrade if purchased in past 60 days?

Just received a message from the courier, that a package from Prusa is on its way. Since I expect nothing else, I guess it is the upgrade kit. Hopefully everyone else waiting also will get some news soon.
