Look at the assembly instructions and look for a loose connector.  Loose connections are a common electronics issue.  Causes many problems, vibration and heat can make it worse.

It was Grant (3DMusketeers) on the first look livestream. I asked him about it and he replied with this:

But it only occurs when you have the door switch enabled and instead hit the pause button AND open the door before it fully pauses.

I think this is a very bad bug.  There is no way that opening the door should crash your printer.  A reboot is a major issue and shouldn't be in any software code to be activated this easy.  A reboot should be controlled or an indication of a hardware error.  The door shouldn't affect your print without any confirmation that you want to stop/pause the print.  There are times I will open a door if I see something and just deal with it.

The door opening causes a pause which is fully in software. Bugs happen (including reboots) and a Prusa rep stated they are on it. I'm not sure if turning off the pause feature when the door opens is a workaround, but it very well may be.

That said having re-read the original post, it sounds like this might not actually be the issue, or it could be this issue and caused further issues. @j3llyh34d have you contacted support?

I only really print PLA, and that door switch, although a nice feature, is probably something I will disable early on. 

I do like to pick the last bit of oozed filament before a print starts, so need the door open for that, and I'd be likely to forget it was on a switch and open the door mid print knowing me - I wouldn't want the print pausing and any oozed filament creating a zit on the actual model when it resumed.....

It seems to happen under other circumstances too, but it itsn't affecting my ability to print or work with the Core one 🙂

83% on a 26hr print, looks great.  Easy to work around bug.

There seem to be bugs in the UI too; if you navigate away from the defacto display during a print the final resting screen can often be blank, no display of model or print information.  Just time remaining and print %.  Nothing major and nothing that affects prints.

I really like the inbuilt lighting, very nicely done Prusa 😎

If disabling the door switch in software does not avoid the crash, you can always jam the switch or put a piece of sticky tape over it as a workaround, until new firmware is released.

But I understood the OP to say that the printer also produced random crashes unrelated to opening the door? That would be separate from the known firmware issue, wouldn't it? (Unless there is also some contact problem in the switch or its connection which signals spurious door opening.)

I also get crashes if opening the door after the print has finished, but whilst Z is still moving to it's final position.

Ok, that's different from the "random reboots" you mentioned in your original post. So the buggy firmware response to the door sensor may well be behind all the crashes you experienced. I assume you have already disabled the door sensor as a workaround while waiting for a fixed firmware?

It would be worth opening an issue on github for this (and the other issues you've been having) so they can look into it.

Disabling the door sensor appears to have stopped the crashes and yes, in hindsight not random.

Mine still reboots occasionally, though for me it is usually during the filament change process.

My gosh, thank you for this!!!!

I've been going nuts trying to ESD protect my machine assuming some sort of static charge was causing the reboots

Now I know I can just turn off the stupid door sensor

Static discharge also causes this. I first thought, the printer was charging itself and zapping me every time I touched it, but then I realized it was my office chair charging me on the carpet and when I touched the front panel to change setting I accidentally made contact with the Prusa USB stick, which has a metal housing and send the charge directly into the electronics. Since I found that out, I made sure to touch the steel frame first and will probably get a USB stick with plastic housing.
