Imperfect circular prints

Hi all,

Just assembled my Core One+ one week ago, all prints have gone perfect, except those with circular objects. Every circular object has a vertical line. Some objects get a string inside.

Could you help me to understand the root of this issue?

Cheers,

Manuel

This is called a seam. It is where the print head stops and starts on each layer. You can control where the seam is placed and how it looks. For example, you can tell the slicer to put it in a random location so you won't have that vertical line. Instead it will be spread out as random points. Or you can spread it out over a scarf joint.

RE:

The ‘string inside’ (in my experience) comes from when some lunatic decides it’s a good idea to have a filleted edge on the build plate.

It’s simply staggering how often you see this.

Upload the model and we can check.

For those designing models (for personal use and/or sharing), use a chamfer on the side that touches the build plate, not a fillet. The first couple layers of a fillet may have too much of an overhang to properly stick to the previous layer and can cause the lines in the first image of the original post.

I think that model has a thread on the inside at the bottom, you can just about make it out on the left hand pic supplied.

Often with threads of some sizes the same problem as with a fillet can occur with inside threads, ie not enough contact with the layer below.  So make sure your layer height is suitable for the threads you are printing.

Yeah, he could also be printing outside perimeters first…without seeing the 3mf it’s all guesswork.

Thanks for all your answers!

I'll keep in mind the seam position for the next print. This is the model I printed: https://www.printables.com/model/1039326-roland-v-drum-extendable-drumstick-holder/files

The string appears on the first layers after the last thread (It was printed in the opposite position to how it appears in the photograph.)
