Core One extruder problem need help.

hello. I have reached a point with my problem that where I am just going in cycles with no solution in sight, I have searched a LOT and tried many things that i have been suggest in my search with no luck.

doing any extrusion it will on it skip/slip ( audible click ) and miss parts of the lining seen on the shell and fill. it can do the first layer fine, but anything past that and it will start skip/slip. can hear audible clicks when doing loading and unloading too. it started this after putting in a white filament but now its doing it with every filament. (picture provide at the bottom)
I have tried:
Cold pull x 2
idler screw tension
gearbox alignment calibration
removing and cleaning nozzle
printing without prusaconnect

I'm incredibly tired of this.

If the extruder is clicking and not feeding filament correctly it must be a blockage somewhere, or something that's preventing the filament from entering the drive freely.  Have you checked that the filament moves freely when you load it into the PTFE tube by hand?  Presumably you've opened the idler to check that there isn't some old filament and/or dust blocking the path?

It would help a lot to know what kind of filament and nozzle you are using. Otherwise I can only guess. It looks like a heat creep issue which causes the nozzle to partially clog, then clear when pressure builds up. So again, having to guess, my questions are:

  1. What is your filament, what type and brand?
  2. Did you dry your filament beforehand?
  3. What nozzle are you using? 0.4mm? high flow?
  4. What are your print settings? Could you save your project as a 3MF, zip it and attach it here?

hello abenn.

I can feed the PTFE tube fine, I haven't checked down the entrance to the extruder where its attached, so will check that when i have the time.
as far as dust/debris from the idler view i cant see there is anything wrong.

hello hyiger.

to answer, cus i also forgot to add those.

1. PLA. the white is 3DE Premium pretty sure, and the black PLA is Prusa itself
2. no. I have zero issues when used with MK3 though
3. E3D Prusa Nozzle: High Flow Brass – 0.4 mm
4. cant share. but its pretty much default settings for prusa core one on 2.9.4. the faster and bigger layer size seem to make it worse but its still present even with lower layers.

  1. PLA is always susceptible to partial clogging. Is the top vent open when it's printing? Also, try printing with the door open.
  2. MK3 is an open frame printer and so less susceptible to heat creep, the Core One is closed. Partially damp PLA can contribute to clogging. PLA is not very hygroscopic but over time it can collect enough moisture to cause issues. You should dry it first.
  3. Are you sure it is high flow? Does it have "CHT" printed on the nozzle stem?
  4. You can export the config.ini without sharing the entire project. One suggestion is to turn on in the UI displaying the heat break temperature and monitor it during the print.

Alternatively, use a different filament like ASA or PETG. Then you won't run into these issues.
