Filter on while printing or after printing?

I have just built the enclosure with the filtration system.

Stupid question, when using smelly filaments, should I use the filter while printing or after the print is done (before opening)? I cannot find any tips on this.

I am quite afraid that while pricing it can generate wind on the model and I only imagine disasters with tall objects.

LED and Filter, I thing it should be good to be able to pilot it on/off from octoprint rather than just a switch.

Thanks,

Torpi

From Enclosure page: "The filtration system is useful when you print materials such as PC Blend Carbon Fiber and other materials that produce particles during printing."

That's all I know - Yeah, I bought filter. lol

Well, I plan to test those materials, that’s why I got the enclosure. Nylon too. Not sur le it’s hot enough for tall objects but small gears should be good.

still not sure how to use the filter !! 😉

RE: Filter on while printing or after printing?

I have this question as well. I read I believe in a thread here somewhere that they were having success turning the filter on after the print was completed and not getting and odors. I didn't see anything on the Prusa site regarding it. But have yet to try any ABS or ASA

I also wonder that if I need to leave the filter running during the printing, should I do a PID tune for the machine with the filter running, because I'm sure it has some effect.

Hello, I received my enclosure yesterday, I don’t know about the filter but I think it must be on while printing, and some minutes after the print finish.

Regarding turning on/off filter and LEDs with octoprint, maybe with enclosure plugin did you found something? I really need this too, I was using another LEDs that I turn on/off with my smart home application but now I can’t do it anymore.

Well, you would have to hack the PCB to be able to pilot it since there is no connection to the printer nor octoprint. Like having a GPIO that you connect to the actual switch.

RE: Filter on while printing or after printing?

Hello,

I juste mount the enclosure and start printing with the filter on but the temperature of the bed drops by more than 10°C so the printer set a error...

Did you have already encounter this problem ? How to fix that ?

 Thanks for your help
