RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
Another thought after the extruder is calibrated, run the phase stepping calibration in the printer menu, supposed to help.
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
I did that calibration with the prusa support agent it didn't seem to have any affect. Though I will do it again with it on the floor the filament seems to be pretty close to an average of 1.75 fluctuates a little to 1.74 and 1.76 but that could just be me. Will give your cube a go
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
still got the Vfas looking at 9.95, 9.96 and 1o on the Z
RE:
The point of the cube is to get the avg wall thickness to 0.45, LxHxW don't matter, the 10mm cal cube is just faster to print and check. Do you have a pic of the cal cube that measured 0.45 wall with the VFA? Did you use the 45mm sec I included in the 3mf? Consistent surface is enabled in the filament "cooling slowdown logic"?
3. Make three or more measurements in the middle of each wall and calculate the overall average thickness.
4. Calculate the extrusion multiplier using the following formula: Extrusion multiplier = (Extrusion width (0.45) / Average measured wall thickness).
5. Adjust the Extrusion Multiplier in Filament Settings → Filament
6. Re-print the cube with new settings and go back to step 3 if necessary.
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
i have been on with Prusa support again (after failing to reply by the deadline they set again...) spent the last 3 hours or so with them doing more test prints, making them send files with straight flat edges for the VFAs to actually show on ... and they are still at a loss. however its possible i might have bad motors the state "it could be a cause" not great for a machine a week old. am waiting yet again for a email that may or may not be sent ..
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
Unfortunately still awaiting for a email. Tried multiple spools and all have the same issue (some dried, some new, some been in open air for 2 years) someone in Prusa support was suggesting wet filament would cause VFA's which i doubt (stringing sure and bad surface finish but VFA's are too harmonious for wet filament in my opinion). I used to love prusa back in the Mk2/Mk3 years but something changed around the XL time (had numerous issues with my XL it was dead on arrival)..
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
so email came in, Prusa's current 'solution' is to send the printer back for "warranty repair" "non warranty repair" (not sure how thats even an option due to the printer being assembled by them... and been showing the issues at day 1 and reported on day 1....) and "return completely" that is what it boils down to. they claim that speed 'Might' be causing an issue (its not tried on all speeds and even forced it down to 70mm) and if that is the case then the part of the sales page that states "Maximum Speed without a Catch" is incorrect.. Im now also getting the BSOD error. thinking the two printers i got from prusa are both lemons.
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
Right so current solution and further issues. I had discovered that loads of the screws on the frame were loose and not tight in any sense of tightness when attempting to tighten the screws (some tightened no issue) others were stripped. So that's not fantastic, the whole frame leans and moves with side loading (it's not the rubber feet) I can see gaps increase and decrease in size when force is applied.
So with that in mind and prusa taking weeks to send any troubleshooting emails (they did today) I have elected to return the printer to the reseller. That does unfortunately end my experience at this time with prusa. Been using the MK2, MK3 mk3s, MK4, XL (arrived dead) (single tool upgraded to 2 and then ) and then 2 core one Ls very short lived though.
Due to a combination of poor support and long timescales I have elected to move onto another manufacturer.
I may come back in the future but prusa would need to improve quite a bit for that to happen.
That being said I wish everyone luck here and happy printing.
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
This is a bit disheartening, I bought a C1 on day one and 7 months later it still hadn't shipped for one reason or another, all Prusa's fault unfortunately.
I cancelled, and they didn't give me any hassle, so kudos for that. I bought a Ston Wolf in May with a 4-6 week estimated delivery, and as of now January 2026 only 2 printers have shipped that I'm aware of, and honestly I question those. Amazingly designed printer, and it looked really promising, but delay after delay I couldn't wait anymore, seemed like a dead end. Based on how things were going I didn't want to be stuck with a printer that had the possibility of absolutely no support. So I cancelled and was told there was no money for refunds, but he would refund me when possible. Well after 6 weeks of nothing and more excuses I filed a dispute with my CC and won, so I got my money back.
In conclusion I was going to buy a C1L thinking all of the issues they were having with the C1 were solved, but seeing this makes me worry. I know the forums is not a good place to look for reviews because it's mostly going to be people looking for help with issues.
That being said I'm thinking they'll come out with a 1.5 gt belt version for these printers sometime soon because people who have done a conversion seen to have had good results, and the H2 series have them and from what I've seen the print quality looks pretty good. I'm not a Bambu fan so I'll not be buying that. I think I'll wait a few months to see what happens.
I've needed another printer for over a year now, but I don't want to be trapped and there's nothing on the market that I'd buy right now.
Sorry for your troubles.
RE: Core One L bad VFA's and really bad ghosting
Nothing for you to apologise for friend, you didn't do anything, I mostly found everyone on the forums to be great people so no shade at anyone here at all.
I also am not a Bambu fan but I know people that have them including gov companies and they all seem to like them. The reseller had the other version too and listed the pros and cons. I ended up choosing the H2C so I can have tool head changing capabilities. It's not as clean as Prusas but hopefully I will have a working printed that lives to its advertising
