Really odd final layer issue
So I've had quite a few successful prints recently with my settings and the 0.4mm nozzle but then today I had this issue with the finish layer in the centre of this part (the sides are still printing for another 15mm). What has caused this?! I have the top at 5 and bottom layers set at 4 with infill set at 30% rectilinear and top and bottom layers monotonic.

This is what it will look like when finished.

RE: Really odd final layer issue
I don't know if this could be an explanation - but I did have very similar effects when my heatbed thermistor started going bad. In my case, it could have been completely unrelated, but there is a temporal correlation and the issues went away when I installed a new thermistor.
RE: Really odd final layer issue
Thanks for the reply. Daft question, do you mean the hotend thermistor? I didn't think the XL had a heatbed thermistor. Couldn't find any info about one anyway!
RE: Really odd final layer issue
Ah, sorry, I once again failed to notice in which forum I'm posting - I somehow assumed this was an MK4. 🙂 Anyway, in my case, the problem was that the heat bed was hotter than it was supposed to be, which caused the bridges across my infill to sag. The result looked a lot like what you have there.
Perhaps try to reduce the heatbed temperature a bit? Or give a little more part cooling?
