PLA as Support Material for PETG Sticks Together

I read reports of people successfully combining PLA and PETG where one is the support material and it's supposed to be easy to remove because they don't stick together. I read one can set the support distance to zero (soluble) for a very nice bottom surface finish.

I print all my models as PETG so I tried using PLA as support material, but in the resulting print the supports are not easy to remove at all. They stick together firmly and it is impossible to cleanly remove the PLA.

Is somebody successfully doing this with the XL, and if so what are your settings?

As you can see I didn't get much traction on this post here, but I got a lot of good feedback on the Prusa subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/prusa3d/comments/1dz6k5a/pla_as_support_material_for_petg_on_prusa_xl/
