Multi Colour Model Auto generated supports
In preparation for my 5 Head XL I'm familiarising myself with PRUSASLICER's quirks. When slicing multi-material models I cannot make it use the total model for generating supports - it's making supports for each individual component and then running the whole thing together -
What am I doing wrong? I cannot seem to find a switch to force the slicer to use the total model when calculating supports. I don't want to use paint on multi-colour because geometry is so much more precise. Paint on supports have the same issues - colliding extrusions.
? Is there a solution?

You would get better help if you attached the prusa slicer project 3mf (File>Save Project As). To attach files you have to zip them up or the forum software will silently reject the file, no warning, just wont attach.
Cant tell from your screen grabs if that is 1 Object or 2 ? There is a BIG difference between Objects and an Object with multiple Parts. Prusa Slicer treats different Objects completely separately. That means if you overlap them then they will have space where its telling the printer to fill will 2x the plastic. Same for supports. Supports for Object A will go completely through Object B as it its not there. Its the users job to make sure there is no overlap.
Parts of an Object though are treated as just that, parts. So its sliced as a single Object. So it sounds like you have 2 Objects rather than a single object with multiple parts. See why the Project file becomes so useful 🙂 That and it also saves ALL your settings so people get the whole picture.

For PrusaSlicer to treat multi-part models as a single model you have to:
Right-click the first model > Add part > Choose the second part you want to add:
OR
just drag and drop (import) both models at the same time and you'll be prompted for PS to treat it as a single part:
Ex: Blue is a separate part from YellowRed so everying just overlaps badly. Red was added to Yellow, thus YellowRed is treated as a 'single model.'

Adding the components of the model to a single object has done the trick! Now it generates the support material correctly :))
