Super Slow Uploads

We got an XL a month ago and one thing I noticed is that uploading files is really slow.  I'm using the wired Ethernet port, and generally sending BGCODE files, and it seems to take a long time to send files to the USB stick on the printer. I'm not sure what's going on.  I would expect a wired connection to be pretty quick.

Also, on a side note, why doesn't the web interface have the bgcode option when selecting files to upload?  I have to change to ALL FILES to select a bgcode file.  Am I missing something here?

RE: Super Slow Uploads

I would say the upload facility has got slower since last week!

Today I'm also struggling to send Gcode directly from Prusaslicer to PrusaConnect with the command 'Upload & Print'. It fails and I get error message saying the printer is offline. Well it isn't because I'm using PrusaConnect to heat the Hot end and Bed. So I have Comms. I transfer the files directly from Finder the PrusaConnect then you have to jump through hoops to convince it that your printer is ready to print.

What has changed?

It's been slow since I set up the printer.  Maybe the USB stick is just a slow model?  I am using the stick that came with the printer.

RE: Super Slow Uploads

I'm using wired ethernet and Sandisk 16GB Ultra Fit USB 3.1 memory stick. Transfer speeds from PrusaSlicer via PrusaLink to printer is not superfast, but manageable ok speed.

After upgrading firmware to 5.x, the printer couldn't load any print files from the Prusa USB stick (worked with 4.x firmware also on firmware up-/downgrade and on PC)

Thanks.  I will check firmware and try a different USB stick.  I don't' know the specs of the Prusa supplied stick.  I don't have anything super duper fast, but I have some that should be way faster than I'm experiencing.

RE: Super Slow Uploads

The super slow uploads are very annoying. 🙁

Pointing directly to the printer IP, which is attached via "Fast Ethernet" at 100Mbps on the printer side. Laptop side is getting 1.2Gbs down and 640Mbs up to the Internet across the WiFi 6E. XL Firmware is 5.1.2+13478 for Input Shaper. PrusaSlicer is 2.7.3. Super slow uploading from PrusaSlicer or direct from Printer's IP or connect.prusa3d.com... all gets horrible performance. 17MB bgcode file, taking ~13-minutes.

Okay, switched to WiFi, a LOT faster. Same 17MB bgcode file, taking ~4.5 minutes. MUCH better... though slow.

Hmmm. Realized I should just capture the packets with Wireshark. TONS of Retransmissions because the printer isn't ACKnowledging the packets. Worse with Fast Ethernet, but still bad with WiFi as well.

Wish Octoprint would support the bgcode files and full XL support (they might, but back in December, not so much). I do think someone made a plugin for bgcode at least... need to look at all that again I guess.

RE: Super Slow Uploads

Same here... very slow uploading speed - both WiFi / LAN connection.

Hoping that will be some update with fixing this issue.
