Homing error Z #17301 (XL)

Before I 'bother' Customer Support, I just thought that I would see if anyone else has encountered this situation. Everything worked fine since assembling printer in mid-December. Printer specs:

  • XL-5 tool (Semi-assembled)
  • Firmware 5.1.2+13478
  • Bootloader 2.3.4
  • Buddy Board 9

Then:

  1. I ordered a set of 0.4 nozzles
  2. I installed a 0.4 nozzle in Extruder 1
  3. Changed settings in XL and Slicer for Extruder 1
  4. Did a test print and everything was fine
  5. Installed remaining 0.4 nozzles in Extruders 2-5
  6. Ran Tool Offset Calibration
  7. Received, "Homing error Z #17301 (XL)"
  8. Followed  - https://help.prusa3d.com/ja/article/homing-error-17301-xl_393700
  9. Received same error

Sighed, took a breath, then:

  1. Reseated all boards and cables on Buddy Board
  2. Ran Full Calibration - Same error
  3. Did a Factory Reset - Updated Firmware
  4. Ran Full Calibration - Same error

Notes:

  1. In Control - Move Axis, I can move the X and Y, but the Z does not move. The number next to the Z will go up and down, but no physical movement nor sound. It is as if it is not even there.
  2. Heater in bed works fine, passed test.
  3. I am able to control, load and unload all 5 extruders with no issue.

Anyway, sorry for long, detailed post, but just seeing this has occurred before, or if I am unique 🙂

Thank you for your time,

Jerry

Not yet. I have not had a window of time to contact support yet. Hopping to contact them this Wednesday, Feb 14. Will post any results then.

I suggest sending an email today. Email support seems to be better. Less timely, but at least they take their time to think about your problem before dismissing you.

To update (and close) this thread, after e-mailing with support and metering the signals going to the Z axis ports on the Sandwich Board, it was initially thought that the Sandwich Board was at fault. It was not. Turns out it was the Buddy Board, which has the stepper controllers on it, that was at fault. Replaced it. Back up and running.
