Firmware 6.4.0 hangs and z shift

I recently added the Prusa enclosure and switched to 5x obxidian nozzles (along with a firmware update) and it's been failed print after failed print since. At first I was convinced I'd screwed something up but fortunately I decided to dig around github before tearing the printer apart.

First issue was layer shift upwards when changing toolheads. At first I only saw it on Hueforges with .08mm layer height with a certain printhead. Then with another printhead after rearranging filaments thinking it was mechanical.  But then I did a normal .2mm layer height print with a spool join and it did the same thing. So I put the hueforge project aside and went elsewhere.

Turns out there are ~4 different bugs related to Z shift here is one

Second issue. Went to another print which was a larger one, 24 hours. At ~60% it just stopped printing, but said it was still active. Hit pause and it beeped and looked like it did something but nothing happens. Power cycle and it resumes with a layer shift, then does it again.

On my 5T machine 6.4.0 has been a nightmare. Actually it seems every time I've updated to a 6.x firmware I've had issues, before it was the USB disconnect issue that haunted me through different versions, seems to be gone now and replaced with new ones. 5.1.2 was super solid though!

Sad because the hardware is great and it's an amazing printer when it's not failing due to some bug or another.

Time to go back a version and see what issues features 6.2.6 has!

The fact that firmware 6.4.0 for the XL has finally been withdrawn is an important step toward fixing bugs in the software and stopping this flood of reports about failures or malfunctions.

Writing reports has paid off, so to speak—what a satisfying feeling.

Quick start printing for Prusa XL and Prusa Core One
Comfortable display working height on the Prusa Core One

I am not satisfied unfortunately.  Prusa has released buggy XL firmware over and over, with this being one of the worst releases. This printer cost $3500 and I've had more firmware issues with this printer than every other one I've owned combined and I'm not new to the hobby. It's only been reliable when I've been running older firmware since 6.x.

I've had more failed prints on this machine than my old Ender. So yes I may be a bit salty when people defend them but I feel it's fair. Prusa today is not the Prusa of the mk3 era which makes me sad I'm been a fan for many years.

I don't blame the devs, it's typically management pushing unrealistic schedules or not giving test enough resources.  But yes I'm pretty pissed at Prusa management.
